Tacos El Gordo | Our Story
A leap of faith, one taco at a time
In 2021, Francisco and Julia Ostos left their careers behind, bought a food truck, and bet everything on making great Mexican food in Lancaster County. What they built is something this community has made its own.
The first food truck
Francisco bought a food truck from a friend, put in the repairs it needed, and gave it a fresh coat of paint. Then he and Julia opened the window and started serving — no safety net, just good food and a lot of determination.
Finding the joy
Through years of hard work, Francisco and Julia discovered a genuine love for cooking and a real connection with the people they served. That warmth — in the food and in how guests are treated — became the heart of everything Tacos El Gordo is.
Growing into three locations
One truck became two, and two became three — including a brick-and-mortar restaurant in Ephrata and food trucks serving Lancaster and Lebanon. Tacos El Gordo is now one of Lancaster County's most beloved Mexican food spots.
The food that defines us
The quesabirrias became the dish people drive across Central PA for — crispy, cheesy, rich — and the menu kept growing from there. Every plate reflects the same care that went into that very first service.
